Springtime cherry blossoms are one of the outstanding features of Central Park and Varriano has done a number of beautiful paintings of this lovely subject. Aside from the magnificent array of pink blossoms, the Artist loves the endless reflections of blue sky and green grass that make their way into the pinks of the flowers. He generally approaches these paintings with full and somewhat thick, wet splurges and blobs of luscious paint.

Here we see that John Varriano takes joy in the application of the brilliant Quinacridone Roses, Cobalt Violets and Alizarin Crimson of his palate as well as the Greens, Yellows and Oranges that infuse the painting creating a contrast of vivacious splendor.
